Maurizio Prosperi
Maurizio Prosperi holds a MSc and a PhD in Agricultural Economics and since 2005 he is assistant professor at Foggia University (Italy). His studies are related to the economic effects of the implementation of the Water Framework Directive in the Apulia region (Italy). In particular, he is co-author of several international publications related to the analysis of the impacts of water pricing on the profitability of agricultural sector. Recent studies are focused on the comparison between different water metering methods, in terms of implementation costs, operational costs, and socio-technical barriers to the introduction of innovative systems.
Charlie Walker
Charlie is Technology Editor for Global Water Intelligence, and is responsible for the CTO section of the GWI magazine. This section looks at new water technologies, the dynamics of different technology markets, and the latest information on what’s going on in the digital world of water. Prior to his current role, Charlie was a research analyst at GWI, co-authoring several market reports covering different aspects of the water sector.
Ron Weerdmeester
Ron is currently board member of PNO’s operation in Italy and Managing Director of PNO Innovation in Brussels. He combines degrees in European law (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen) and Technology and Business Development (Boston University) with a professional career in the development of strategic research, technology development and innovation processes, projects and programmes with a European dimension. He has supported hundreds of clients and successful EU projects and proposals of a wide variety, involving small high tech companies to large multinationals, research institutes and Universities in most European countries, and in a large number of different technology areas, from ICT to energy, from environmental technologies to materials and from biotechnology and health to chemistry. Ron has matured a unique and broad experience and profound insights in innovation and funding processes in practice, from the genesis of innovative ideas and their development towards proof-of-concept, demonstration, market introduction and commercial exploitation. Recebtly he has been involved in developing the vision and research roadmaps for the European process industries (SPIRE), biotechnology (Europabio) and water (WssTP).
Edouard Pérard
Edouard Pérard is Economist in the Water Management Division of the European Investment Bank, where he is in charge of economic and financial due diligence of EIB’s investments (loans, equity in funds, quasi-equity) in the water sector in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Before joining the European Investment Bank in 2013, he worked on private investment in the water sector for 10 years successively at the World Bank in Washington, the OECD in Paris and Yale University in New Haven. Edouard holds a PhD in Economics and a Master’s degree in Finance from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po).
Jules Rijnierse
Jules Rijnierse has a broad management experience in both corporate and start-up business environments. As entrepreneur, he focusses on the areas of Water, Food and Ecosystems, e.g. Colorwaters®, Bright Future Lab and Ecologisch Waterbeheer (EWB - Ecological Watermanagement) of which he is one of the Founders. EWB is a cooperation of three partners who are for many years active in the water industry in the Netherlands. Based on a Dutch Environmental Award winning concept the ‘Self-cleaning Roadside’ – tested and approved by TAUW – a new approach of local watermanagement | Ecological Watermanagement has been developed as spin off. An ecological designed and tested system. Fit for local use for (surface) water treatment, in multiple surroundings, save, at reduced costs, delivering water quality capable to meet water to the Dutch qualification level according to the Decree: ‘Infiltration Decision soil protection’. EWB with its Ecological (surface) water treatment is after several pilot projects now ready for a broader approach of the market.
Jan Van Cappellen
Jan Van Cappellen is Chief Operations Officer at Hydroko. He received a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). He has been active in drinking water production and supply for over 15 years now and has been the initiator and project manager of the smart metering project of Water-link in the city of Antwerp, resulting in the development of the HydroKonekt SmartValve©. His current proceedings involve smart metering IOT-projects in the drinking water industry.

Jordi Bacardit
Jordi Bacardit is a R&D specialist in the field of water treatment technologies with 10 years of industrial experience. Since 2014, Jordi works for Dow Water and Process Solutions, a business of Dow Chemical. His main functions in Dow include the support and guidance to R&D projects undertaken in the Dow’s Water Technology Center in Tarragona (Spain), and the identification of market needs for the production of industrial utility water by reverse osmosis. Jordi holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Barcelona, and he is currently Director of the Water Reuse Europe association.

Nicola Bazzurro
Hydraulic engineer, he has more than 30 years experience in the water industry sector. Former manager of the B.U. Monitoring and Environmental Research. Since 2003 is Secretary General of Fondazione AMGA. Since June 2015 he joined the Internationalization and Innovation department inside the Holding IREN SpA whose mission is to identify technological nucleus enabling IREN Group’s Business Companies to be more efficient.
Richard Howard
Richard Howard has worked in Scottish Enterprise for over twenty years. He has a wide experience of supporting high growth SME’s across several sectors. More recently Richard has worked in the renewable energy generation sector and help to create several new projects across Scotland. Currently Richard is the project manager for the Hydro Nation Water Innovation Service and is working closely with Scottish Water and their partners on a NW Europe Interreg proposal for the water sector.
